watching...

A member of the Dromana Bay Surf Lifesaving Club
watches the setting up of competition buoys at the Australia Day celebrations in Dromana...

Close up of the surf rescue boards...

And more boards wait on the foreshore to be unloaded...

On the beach, a seagull keeps a watchful eye on the competition markers...

Top Doorslammer...

I found this sign on the man's back an interesting one...
Top Doorslammer is a professional class of Australian drag racing...
Rob Taylor is known as the 'mad professor'...
The photo was taken at the recent Westernport Festival, Hastings...

the hat...

today is Australia Day...
Celebrations in Dromana focus around the foreshore
where a free breakfast (of a bacon and egg roll + coffee) is most tempting...
And it's the opportunity for people and dogs to dress up in all kinds of interpretations of the Australian flag...
This photo was taken on Australia Day 2015...

life is strange...

I know... this scene looks rather odd...
Originally I intended to capture the passing boat on a trailer in Mornington's main street...
I  aimed the lens for a spot ahead of the boat and waited for it to cross the picture frame..
But circumstances had other ideas...
The boat - or at least, the car - suddenly picked up speed...
A woman suddenly emerged from a shop behind me and crossed the frame...
And the passing boat revealed a man on the other side of the street
who looked as if he was chasing the boat...
At first, I was going to delete the photo...
But then I noticed something else...
The boat cast a large shadow shape on the roadway...
How perfect for Shadow Shot Sunday 2...
So the photo lived to share...
(And how strange that the boat is called 'Reaper' - without the 'grim' thank goodness...)

accept
alternatives may just be
treasures

Crazy World?

At first, this image taken in Rosebud doesn't seem so crazy.
But when the details are put together, then it does seem so.
It is Spring - hence all the Spring flowers - but there's no sun.
It is raining - light rain has been falling all morning (and will be all this week again), but this guy strolls along without an umbrella.
It is slightly cool with a touch of mugginess - so the man wears a red hooded jacket in case of more chills?
It's Saturday morning - and the highway near him has hardly any traffic. Usually vehicles on a weekend are bumper to bumper at this time of year - weekend getaways, campers preparing for the Christmas holiday season and, of course, the locals.

Disjointed Springtime
Strange muddle of clothing styles
Nature has problems
