each to their own...

The great thing about Dromana's Australia Day celebrations
is the foreshore and beach setting allow everyone to find their own entertainment
beyond the crowds...
Yesterday's photos were 8:00am 'pre-crowd'...
This photo was taken when the crowd set in...
The foreshore trail was packed...as can be seen by all the legs at the top of the photo...
(The sea wall becomes a popular sitting area...)
But these 2 children found their own entertainment on the beach...

Some chose to seek greater heights...

And one woman chose a quiet place further away from the main entertainment area
to read a book by the sea...

just chatting...

This early summer morning image of Dromana beach has a little story attached...
The old man had been wandering alone, but chatted easily to anyone here at the beach...
He had just spoken to me and pointed to the large cargo ship offshore...
'More cars...more pollution' was his comment on the cargo...
He then wandered to this little family group and admired the children's attempts
to build a sandcastle...
He seemed to be enjoying a chat with Dad...
I noticed that neither Dad nor the old man had a mobile in sight...
How refreshing...How lovely...

children and a horse...

children enjoying some time on a little horse statue at Churchill Island yesterday...
Churchill Island is just offshore from the Mornngton Peninsula
and features a delightful Heritage Farm...
Sadly the sun disappeared, while they were on it, hence the misty tone...

on Australia Day...

yesterday was Australia Day...
There were lots of celebrations on the Dromana foreshore...
But these young ones were quite content just to paddle in the water...
And one kept clutching a small Australian flag...

Not quite sure what the two young guys are doing here in the sand.
A hole for the boat?
But the girl is texting...
