Echidna Route

The Echidna Route is a self-drive scenic tourist route which starts at the Dromana Information Centre on the Nepean Highway by Dromana beach.
 It explores the rural hinterland around Red Hill.
A guiding pamphlet is available from the information centre.

L is for London Bridge Ocean Beach...
(continuing my series on the Mornington Peninsula)

London Bridge Ocean Beach is a spectacular piece of rugged coastline on the eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula.
It is a coastline of many moods, dependent on the season and the weather.
The above photo was taken a few days ago ... in the Autumn season when the waters are rough and there's lots of sea mist one day or Summer like bright calm the next...


Or, if you can't wait, check the opposite direction and the weather looks quite different!
The photo above was taken on the same day as the first photo, literally minutes later.
The first photo looks north-east while the second photo looks south-west.


There are fascinating, mini waterfall features here!


And this is the star attraction...London Bridge!

Strolling Magician

A strolling magician at the recent Rosebud Kite Festival on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay.
This guy was quite a character!
He saw my camera and asked to be photographed!

Channel 9 and Kites

Even the Channel 9 vehicle, advertising their popular morning show, was at the recent Kite Festival on the  Rosebud foreshore.
Channel 9 is one of the sponsors of the festival.
(But I didn't see any of the Today show famous faces there!)

A Peninsula Hospital

An old cottage that has now been incorporated into the small Rosebud Hospital complex on the Mornington Peninsula.
Rosebud Hospital is a public hospital which opened in 1961.
It is the only public hospital on the southern end of the penisula.
The rambling Frankston Hospital stands at the gateway to the peninsula.

At this time last year...

At this time last year, early Autumn skies were blue and sunlight still lingered with warmth.
(This year, days of heavy winds, grey skies and rollercoaster humidity play havoc with the psyche.)
