it's the season for the red flowering gum...

The red flowering gum is a popular feature in the summer streetscape...
lining the kerbside or islands of roadways... framing car parks....
This gum is one of several framing the Rosebud Hospital car park...

Today was a very grey day...but still the flowers were beautiful...

Eleanora...

On 2 December 2003, a plaque was unveiled at the Mornington Peninsula Hospital Rosebud,
commemorating the generosity of David Cairns
who bequeathed this limestone home 'Eleanora' (above)
and nine acres of land to the Alfred Hospital as a retreat for its nurses.
The Rosebud hospital was built on the site in 1961,
and today the hospital has extended behind this homestead on Point Nepean Road, Rosebud.
The plaque is located at the homestead entrance.

a little extra...

Not really scenic, but it is important...
Old Dromana pier has a new 'attachment'
and has been strengthened with a new lease on life...at least for awhile...
The attachment involves a lower level for fishermen, or even swimmers...

just chatting...

This early summer morning image of Dromana beach has a little story attached...
The old man had been wandering alone, but chatted easily to anyone here at the beach...
He had just spoken to me and pointed to the large cargo ship offshore...
'More cars...more pollution' was his comment on the cargo...
He then wandered to this little family group and admired the children's attempts
to build a sandcastle...
He seemed to be enjoying a chat with Dad...
I noticed that neither Dad nor the old man had a mobile in sight...
How refreshing...How lovely...

2019 beach season...

A view of Dromana beach and Anthony's Nose - early this morning before the crowds swarmed in...

Yes...It has been awhile since last I posted here...
Life circumstances have demanded more and more attention...
Sadly, they will continue to demand attention, so posting here will be at best, spotty...

flying colours...

the annual Rosebud Kite Festival was on yesterday...
The weather was sunny - at least mostly - and a brisk wind was blowing...
Perfect conditions for kite flying...

It's best to arrive at the event early before the crowds...

Happy Australia Day...

Dromana's Australia Day celebrations by the bay opened with The Warrains playing at 8am...
What a wonderful way to begin the day with great rhythmic sounds...

and glorious misty view of bay waters - including some odd scenes...

And so far, the crowds were not yet awake...

pier uplift...

Dromana pier is getting a little old, weathered and tired...
Over these summer holidays, yellow metals have been working on sections of the pier...
But access to the pier is still available up to the point where the metal monsters are activated...

new symphony...

It has been such a busy year this year...especially in the last few months...
Little energy to spare for my beloved blogging...
So some serious attention to a life balance is needed this year...my New Year intention...

Hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas season
and your New Year is one filled with happiness...

Sunday morning musings...

Musing on a spring morning, just being still, and dreaming
through leaves of a large tree, can be needed light for the soul...
I have spent many hours of many days working on end of year marking and reports...
(School demands are getting significantly worse..)
My blogs have been sorely neglected...
A little dreaming here and there and a little reading have broken the vicious cycle...
There has been little time to go wandering with my camera...

But that time will come...

blossoming...

after endless days of grey skies, cold winds and rain,
(NOT photo friendly)
it is so lovely to see a Spring weekend blossom into sunshine and shadows...
at least for now...
