Disappearing?

I took this photo of Dromana beach last weekend after lots of wind and heavy rain.
When I saw these markings on the sand, identifying the reach of the water line, I was horrified.
I am sure our beach is once again shrinking in size.

Summer Lifestyle

A view of Dromana beach looking toward the pier jutting out into Port Phillip Bay.
The pier was completed in 1872 and initially provided for the shipping of local produce to Melbourne markets.
Now it is a haven for walkers, fishermen and the occasional boat.

Fisherman's Beach Entrance

In 1896 The 'Shire of Mornington' appointed an 'Inspector of Nuisance'.
At Fisherman's Beach mixed bathing was considered to represent anti-social behaviour.
So curbing this social pestilence fell under the jurisdiction of the Inspector of Nuisance.

Almost like some detailed, chaotic abstract artwork!
But this is actually a macro of part of the wetlands at Boneo Maze and Wetlands at Fingal in the hinterland just outside Rosebud.

The Spirit

Spirit of Tasmania sailing into Port Phillip Bay just after crossing the entrance to the bay known as The Rip.
Here it is passing Point Nepean on the southern end of the Mornington Peninsula.
The Spirit sails daily between Melbourne and Devonport in the north of Tasmania.
It offers day or night sailing and you may board with your car.
The journey takes about 10 hours.

Summer Visitor

Over the Christmas period of the summer season, a Mum seal and pup stayed awhile near Dromana beach.
A sign on the rocky steps leading to the beach here warned the curious to stay away and give them space.
I was able to take this photo from the beach wall of the baby playing in the waters of Port Phillip Bay.
