C is for celebrations...
(Continuing my series on the Mornington Peninsula)
Celebrations especially include Australia Day in Dromana...and last Saturday 26th January was that day.
Far from the idea of barbies and beer drinking
- that seem to have been popularised as the Australian way -
this celebration by Port Phillip Bay includes:
* fun run at 8:00am in the morning along the foreshore
* free breakfast - bacon and egg roll
* rides for the little ones - incl a ride in the surf rescue boats
* activities for the little ones - incl face painting and art and holding animals
* a display of vintage cars
* local produce for sale - e.g. Peninsula Honey
* fly over of planes from Tyabb airport
* music on a stage - from early morning till 1pm
* and all the while, the sea and sand welcome those who just wish to enjoy the views of many colourful sails on the bay
Here is a collection of photos from last Saturday's Australia Day
Sweet celebrations

Sounds delightful and very family friendly.
Nice to see such a warm looking day when most of the USA is in its winter clothes.

What a wonderful time everybody is having. The little girls in the water are adorable..perfectly captured (their parents would probably love a copy of this picture!)

Happy Australia Day, Gemma. I love your message above the comment box.
These pictures made the whole thing come to life: Facepainting, rides, fun at the beach, a band, hula hoops. Some day I do want to leave the States and visit!
