B is for Balnarring...

B is for Balnarring...
(Continuing my series on the Mornington Peninsula)

Balnarring village is in the hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula.
But not far away, on Westernport Bay, is Balnarring beach.

Many large properties feature in the village.

But sadly, more suburbanised new estates are emerging.
I have never seen a street called a square.

Balnarring beach has lovely views of Westernport Bay!

Unusual coastal features emerge at low tide.

Get to the beach early, and you will see race horses being exercised.

Finally, here is a creative sign for Balbirooroo wetlands
Taking care of this wetland area is a feature of the Balnarring Primary School curriculum.
The wetlands have now been protected for 20 years.
Balbirooroo is a tribal language Koori name for Ibis.

Love the horses on the beach Gemma, that's the shot I'm continually looking for...soon I hope.

I do love beaches at any time of year. When we lived in central Canada for a year, I thought the air felt "dead" - so sea breezes!

I'm quite intrigued with that Balbirooroo. Is it a name of that bird?
