I think this is a form of algae but not the poisonous blue-green variety. I think it is not so much the algae that the ducks eat, as the insects that live beneath and under the 'leaves' of the algae.
Astounding the variations upon green that are on the portal: Ann has Olive; and Gemma has Lime. As the saying goes, 'it takes all types'.
Beautiful images for the theme of green Gemma, what a serene start to the day.
