Frankston - gateway to the Mornington Peninsula - must be the only place that has this name for public toilets.
It was built in the early 1950's on the Nepean Highway - the main road through Frankston.

What a relief!
In my travels I have found these places also to be a welcome sign.
phew!
I've heard this term before, it sounds very Victorian...but call it what you will, as longtime road trippers, it is always a welcome sign to us!
They are always a comfort to find!
A welcome thing to find. I've never actually seen a sign calling it such, but it is at least perfectly understood.
I've seen that term quite often in the USA.
Interesting sign. Public toilets are known by many euphemisms such as rest stop, pit stop, rest area, guys & gals, and the list goes on.
