a giant bee?...

one of two odd features in a tree at the Tyabb Craft and Antique Village, Tyabb...
I was wondering if it intends to be a giant bee...
There are some protruding curly wires that may be legs...

In this one, the wires seem to include the shape of antennae and wing shapes...

plane at Mornington Peninsula Airport, Tyabb...
This is only a small airport, mainly used by flying enthusiasts and the Aero Club...
However, it is great to view a variety of small planes up close...

some flimsy light...

Australia Day skies in Dromana yesterday offered some flimsy, cool light...
Adnmittedly, the two views are early morning scenes, before the crowds rolled in...
But little sunny, warm light appeared till late afternoon...

2017 Australia Day...

Today, 26th January 2017 is Australia Day...
Each year, we join in the celebrations on the Dromana foreshore...
This year, the day was rather grey and cool... strange for a summer's day...
But still the crowds gathered in Dromana from 8:00am...
Above is the little shelter for performers by the stage - featuring a view of Dromana pier...
On the left is a brilliant musician - Andrew Farrell...known as The Wizard...

the old Arthurs Seat chair no longer faces the summit view...
(It is a popular chair for photos...)
Now the view frames the chair...
and the chair faces the Eagle sky lift summit station...

sky lift details...

yes... 2 days ago I rode in a gondola on the Arthurs Seat Eagle sky lift...
I am still excited about the experience...
(And feeling very brave, as I fear heights...)
The above sign details features of the sky lift...

The sign was on the pylon, tucked just behind the gondola on the left...

Eagle heights...

I'm feeling rather proud of myself...
This morning, I faced my fear of heights and rode, in a gondola,
on the new Arthurs Seat Eagle sky lift...
This is a view of one of the first towers at the Arthurs Seat summit...
On top is a windsock with a touch of red...

scenic historic Heronswood...

Heronswood is a grand old lady overlooking Dromana...
This is a view of the outdoor dining courtyard...
(The old building is now being used as a restaurant
since the separate restaurant was engulfed in flames from a grass fire in 2014.)

The first law professor at Melbourne University, William Hearn, employed Edward Latrobe Bateman to design Heronswood house in 1866. The property's name was probably derived from Hearn's family motto, the heron seeks the height, or his family crest, on a mount vert, a heron. Or it could be a contraction of 'Hearn's wood'. The architectural style of the house, which was completed in 1871, is Gothic Revival. It is made from coursed, squared granite blocks quarried at Arthur's Seat. The windows, doors and corners are dressed with limestone from the southern end of the peninsula. It features many medieval-inspired elements such as the bell-cast roofs covered in Welsh slate, pointed lancet windows, and buttressing on the front porch.
